Flash Fiction Friday – June

I’ve gotten things back on track with the monthly flash prompts, so here’s June on time and ready to go. Funny story about this flash piece. It was supposed to be May’s entry with the main character named Emeralda (Emerald) instead of Alexandra (Alexandrite). Since I didn’t have it queued up, I thought I’d skipped writing it, wrote a new one, then found this one when I saved the one I posted for May. *sigh*…

Flash Fiction Friday – May (Oops?)

Yeah, so May ran away… somewhere. I don’t know what happened. I changed my perpetual calendar over the weekend and it still read April, so that’s where I am right now. What this means is you’ll get a flash piece on this weird Monday, and another next Friday, the 16th. Unless I lose another month again. Maintaining schedules isn’t my strongest suit. Anyway, here’s May’s flash piece. Enjoy!

With Jelayan roaming Warrior’s Weald with her Rifaniir mate, it’s time to turn the focus on the next wolf of Sorrow to find her mate. Sorcha has worked as the pack’s primary maintenance specialist since her fourteenth year, but the technology on her new world isn’t the same. Not all of her skills translate to a world of nano medicine and intergalactic space travel, and the horror of the past is a ghost which stalks…

Flash Fiction Friday -March

Time for a new monthly flash fiction piece, this one for the month of March. Since March is best as a surname, I’ve chosen to focus on the birthstone. Mostly bloodstone with a bit of aquamarine thrown in for good luck. A type of chalcedony, bloodstones were once believed to have healing powers and often used to make seals or amulets. All sorts of goodies, right? Let’s go!

Flash Fiction Friday -February

Welcome to February, the coldest, shortest month of the year. For this monthly flash piece, I decided to use the official birthstone, Amethyst, instead of the month. I couldn’t envision anyone naming a child February, even in a fantasy setting, so Amethyst was born. This flash piece is based on an ‘almost story’ I’ve had bouncing around my head for several years. It’s something I’ve wanted to write, but the story simply wouldn’t gel for…

Flash Fiction Friday -January

To ring in the new year, I’m going to try something new for the site. Since my rabid squirrel brain can’t seem to stay on task when it comes to my flash fiction, I’m aiming at a monthly entry relating to the current month: birthstones, holidays, solstices, the month itself, whatever I can think of. Here’s hoping it lasts longer than a month or two before it wanders off to play in the woods. This…

End of Year Recap, 2022

Hello! 2022 has been quite a year. I’ve continued my inability to concentrate on television or movies, so there’ll be no recap of what shows I’ve enjoyed or movies I’ve watched. The answer is none. Always none. I have hit a slight reading slump, preferring rereading favorites or sticking with trusted authors. However! I have been writing. Here’s what I’ve done and a peek at what’s in store.

Teaser Tuesday – Subject 5691: Petri

With NaNoWriMo finally over and edits on the horizon, I wanted to revisit each of my current works a snippet at a time. First up is the book that started it all. Subject 5691: Petri began as a flash serial based around a photo prompt. That first small snippet, much like Petri, took on a mind of its own and became the start of not one but two series: The Edgeworld Chronicles and the Wolves…
